MultiLink with WindowsME

You must have a MultiLink PPP enabled account for this to work. Contact Infobahn at help@abingdon.net or (800) 839-3706 for details.

For more information about MultiLink PPP, please refer to the MultiLink PPP FAQ

NOTE: These instructions are for Windows ME. The screen shots are taken from a Windows 98 system. Your screens will look slightly different. We hope to have screen shots for Windows ME soon.

1) Click on Start --> Settings --> Dialup Networking
2) Select the icon for your abingdon.net connection by clicking once on it.

3) Click on File --> Properties
4) In the Connect Using box, you will see the first modem for the connection

5) Click on the Multilink tab
6) Choose the radial button "Use additional devices"
7) Click on the Add button

8) Choose the second modem to be used from the Device name drop down menu

9) The Phone number should be 462-5550
10) Click OK
11) Click OK
12) Close the Dialup Networking window

When dialing in, the first modem will first connect.  After it has connected, the second modem will then connect and the two connections will be bonded together.  Assuming that both modems support either the x2 or V.90 connection protocol, and each phone line supports "56k" connections, then the connection speed can be up to 106,000 bps for incoming traffic and up to 67,200 bps for outgoing traffic.

RIGHT click on the connection icon in the system tray (next to the time display) and the LEFT click on Status.  Next click on the Details button.  Clicking on Suspend will cause the second modem to hang up.

If you have suspended the second modem, clicking on Resume will cause it to dial in again.
